Oak Frame Extension

Key Points:

  • Sherston, Wiltshire
  • Spacious waney-edge oak-cladded extension
  • Traditional mortise and tenon joint erection method
  • Cotswold Stone masonry to complement surroundings
  • Large, modern open-plan renovation

This home renovation and extension project boasts a new free-flowing, modern and open-plan living/dining area. The exposed structure of the extension, a handcrafted rustic green grain oak frame, is a focal feature both internally and externally.

The oak frame extension itself, erected with traditional methods of mortise and tenon joints, adds huge character to the property and reflects its beautiful surroundings in the Cotswolds. It compliments the locally sourced Cotswold stone masonry that sits below its rural waney edge oak cladding- the extensions design and build is a true testament to craft and care for the local environment.

The existing property has been brought up to modern standard, and now includes a new WC and utility room and a home office. It features oak veneer doors, large fully glazed windows with a bold black aluminium finish, and matching French doors.

A patio of natural sandstone pavers and tapering Cotswold chippings finishes the exterior of the project perfectly.
